ONDINE
A hand lighting a candle in a brown glass jar with a match
Hand-poured in a Bristol railway arch

Light for the hours you keep.

Eight scents, poured forty jars at a time, by two people who got tired of “natural” candles that gave them a headache. Soy wax, cotton wick, nothing else.

Scent finder

Three questions. One candle.

Most people buy the wrong scent the first time — the one that smells good in the shop, not the one they'll light at 9 pm on a Tuesday. This fixes that.

The collection

Eight scents. One arch.

220 g of soy wax in a reusable glass jar, about 45 hours of burn. Hover a candle for its notes; send the empty jar back and we refill it for £12.

The forty-candle rule

We never pour more than forty.

Anna ran a bakery. Tomasz fixed bikes. In 2019 we rented Arch 14 on Cumberland Road because it was cheap and nobody else wanted a room that smelled of diesel. It took eleven months to get the diesel out and the first batch right. That batch was forty jars, because forty is how many fit on the bench, and we've kept to it since: every jar is stirred, poured and trimmed by one of us, and if a scent drifts even slightly, the batch doesn't ship.

“A candle is the cheapest way to change a room. It should at least be honest.”

Hands holding a labelled glass candle jar
Labels are stuck on by hand, which is why some are slightly crooked.
White candles cooling on a dark surface
Cooling takes a full night. Rushing it cracks the top.

FAQ

Before you order.

How long does a candle burn?

Around 45 hours for a 220 g jar if the first burn reaches the edges (two to three hours). The 60 g minis burn for about twelve hours.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Yes, to the EU and the US. Shipping is calculated at checkout and usually takes five to eight working days.

How do refills work?

Send a photo of your clean, empty jar, pick a scent, and we pour a refill for £12 plus postage. Or bring the jar to the arch on a Saturday morning.

Can I return a candle?

Unburned candles can be returned within 30 days. If one arrives damaged, send a photo and we replace it, no questions asked.
